Private investigator Leo Travers is summoned by an anonymous client to examine the death of John Carter, an inmate at the Holbrook Correctional Facility. Carter, a plaintiff in the infamous suit Carter v. Gordy (INMATE 3), supposedly died of a heart attack during a cell extraction. Travers discovers that Carter’s corpse was transferred to a private biomedical firm, Prometheus Cryonics, under a disputed organ donation clause. A mysterious woman leaves him a keycard and a handwritten note: "Find Unit 3."
