Echoes in Dark

In the autumn of 1957, in the rain-soaked town of Ashcroft, Maine, blind former war correspondent Elias Vane is the sole witness to a brutal murder inside the cliffside mansion of retired judge Hollis Whitfield. With no sight, Elias must rely on the creak of floorboards, the scent of gun oil and whiskey, and the rhythm of a killer's breathing to piece together the truth. As the local police dismiss his testimony, Elias realizes the murderer is still trapped in the mansion with him during a hurricane. What follows is a night-long cat-and-mouse game in absolute darkness, where every sound is a clue and every silence a threat. The story explores how time can wash away bloodstains but never dilute the primal terror of being hunted by a ghost you cannot see.
