The Serpent's Vestige

In the republic of Velaria, a disgraced forensic accountant is betrayed by his partners and confined to Blackwood Psychiatric Institution as part of a conspiracy to seize a multibillion-dollar offshore fund. Stripped of his identity, he endures brutal electroconvulsive therapy and neuroleptic drugging while desperately trying to convince the only empathetic psychiatrist that his paranoia is, in fact, the truth. As he unearths the corruption linking the asylum to the very conspirators who imprisoned him, he realizes that the greed which enabled this plot is not a moral failing, but a lethal evolutionary relic coiled in the human brain.
