Shadow Witness

A mundane transit clerk in the fictional city of Port Emerson becomes obsessed with the infamous "Subway Strangler" case. As he volunteers as a witness in a similar trial, his memories begin to warp—he starts conflating himself with the killer, his testimony with confession, and reality with delusion. Over five chapters, his identity fractures as the court and his own mind question what he truly saw versus what he needed to believe.
