Pitfalls of Pity

In the fictional Republic of Golconda, after the colossal "Golden Mirage" cryptocurrency scam vaporizes his life savings, octogenarian widower Arun Varma is reduced to a spectral existence. When a local burglary ring targets his apartment and the state's response is a parade of empty condolences, Varma engineers a baroque series of lethal traps from household detritus. His solitary, blood-drenched standoff becomes a macabre indictment of a society where compassion for the weak is never converted into institutional protection, remaining a self-congratulatory hypocrisy.
