Shadows God Left Behind

In the Qing Dynasty, during the frenzied Lantern Festival carnival in Macheng, a woman disappears. Scholar Tu Rusong is accused of murder based on perjured collective testimony. A jaded criminal profiler arrives, peeling back layers of mass hysteria to reveal that every reveler unknowingly participated in a collective atrocity. Each profile he constructs becomes an attempt to trace the shadowy void left by a departed God—a demonic awakening within the group unconscious. As Tu's execution nears, the profiler must force a community to confront its shared guilt before the carnival masks become permanent faces.
