Novel Summary
In the wake of a landmark voting rights case, Anderson v. Sterling, which upheld a strict mail-in ballot signature law that disenfranchised thousands, a series of brutal murders strikes the judiciary. FBI profiler Dr. Elena Voss, a woman haunted by her own family’s voting-related tragedy, is drawn into the mind of a killer who styles himself “The Scribe.” As Elena’s empathy for the victims shifts into an unsettling communion with the executioner, logic becomes a brittle shield against a tide of fury. The line between justice and revenge dissolves, leading her to a final, irreversible act of surrender.
