When the Ministry of Information refused to disclose evidence of her brother's death in the Shinkai Detention Center, attorney Hana Takeda discovered that Japan's gleaming facade of order masked a machinery of sanctioned murder. Rejected by courts that protected the state, she walked into the neon-lit underworld of Kabukicho to become what the law could never be.
